The music video Wonderwall by oasis is an amplification music video although it has some contradictive shots that haven’t got any link towards the song/lyrics. The music video has a surrealism of random props and special effects, which are key factors towards the bands genre.
The interpretations of the song are very complex the lyrics give the impression of a couple that has an unstable relationship that has it's up and downs. Also the person who’s the song about which could be interrupted as a man is madly in love with her and believes that nobody loves her the way he does, although the lyrics of the song could be interpreted to be Liam Gallagher’s min which is full of confusion hence why the music video has random shots of clowns and puppets.
Mise-en-scene within the music video is a wide variety of props and costumes which have hidden meanings, such as; clown costume which can be perceived as the child within Liams mind, instruments which are a classic convention of an Alternative video, the sunglasses worn by Noel which can be perceived to look like John Lennon who Noel Gallagher admired. The music video also has a lot of antiques such as the record player, the old barber’s chair which could state oasis interest for old things. In the music video the props the band use are random and confusing such as the swings guitars, two men playing saws like a cello which can give the impression of confused mind.
The Editing and Camera techniques in the music video Wonderwall there are very basic. Here are some o the shots and editing techniques within the music video, firstly there is a long shot of a clown walking up to a record player in a warehouse this is a contradicting shot which could be interpreted when Noel was young he didn’t have much so they made use of what they had [the clown symbolizing noels youth]. Then you there is a close up of the clown switching on the record player this symbolizes that the song is going to start. When the song has just started there are a various long and medium shots of Noel Gallagher playing the guitar this can be interpreted as a live performance which most sub-genres of Rock renowned for. All the way through the music video there is a shot of the record player playing with the name Oasis which is a great way to get the band’s name across to the audience. Within the music video the editing techniques are quite plain such as the music video is black and white, although the music video has some colour for various objects such as the clowns hat, Liam’s guitar etc… there is also a random negative shot of Noel this is still a contradictive convention within the music video although the music video is more of an amplification video because of its links towards the song and the lyrics.
